A water dispersible photoinitiator that offers low yellowing, low odour, low volatility and good surface cure when used at 0.5-5 wt% in UV curable formulations. Water solubility of around 2% makes this photoinitiator more ideally suited for water-based UV formulations, such as aqueous polyurethane dispersions. 2959 is also FDA approved for biomedical applications.
